Radon Inspections

Since Radon is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and otherwise undetectable by human senses, radon testing is employed to determine if a house has elevated radon levels. The EPA recommends all houses be tested periodically to determine radon levels.

Home Status Inspection Company utilizes a certified, proven and reliable method of radon detection employing Electret measurement cartridges. All cartridge deployment and testing is to the protocols of the NEHA, in partnership with Envirolabs, Inc. located in Germantown, MD.

The procedure is to deploy the Electret measurement canisters at the time of the home inspection. Envirolabs then picks up the canisters 48 hours later and provides the report by email or fax to the selling agent or buyer on the day the cartridges are retrieved. This turnaround varies over the weekend as no collections are made on Sundays.

Radon Testing by HSI is primarily in the Northern VA, Washington and Maryland areas. Special arrangements can usually be made for outlying areas such as Stafford or Front Royal. Additional travel fees may apply.
